HAZRUL NIZAM
About
Hazrul's interest in music was discovered when he was just a toddler. According to his mother, little Hazrul loved to sing along to any television or radio jingle. Many years later, Hazrul decided to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. Runner-up in Talentime 2001, together with songwriter Mayuni Omar, they won the Juara 2002 songwriting competition and the song Kaulah Segalanya, hit the top of the charts for 5 consecutive weeks and was in the Malaysian ERA charts as well. The mini album received a record 8 nominations in 7 different categories in the Anugerah Planet Muzik 2004 including Most Popular Male Artiste (Regional) and Best New Artiste (Regional). Hazrul also sang the theme song for the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize Award 2008 and the inaugural Singapore National Games. He will also be gracing the opening ceremony of the SEA games in June 2015. Most recently, Hazrul was backed by a 50-piece orchestra for the song, Singapura at the Asia Traditional Orchestra in 2017, held in Gwangju and Busan, South Korea. After his stint in Talentime 2001, Hazrul became part of Vocaluptuous, who performed at Singapore's National Day parade in 2009, where they led the crowd in singing our national anthem, and in 2013. Hazrul was also the vocal coach for Mediacorp's talent show, The Final One, in 2013 and 2015.
